How Your Experiences Can Teach Others

How Your Experiences Can Teach Others

Hi guys! I can’t believe we are in the last month of the year. I feel like everything is going by so fast.

I was thinking the other day that I feel like the older you get, time flies by. When you’re younger, you have all the time in the world. With that being said, this year has been such a great year for me filled with changes and new experiences.

  • I married the love of my life in January
  • We moved into a new home in March
  • I released my first book in October

I am so incredibly grateful for all the wonderful changes that have happened so far this year. Even though I feel like time is flying by, I would not change a thing.

And that brings me to the book, Powerless to Empowered. I did not think I had that in me at all.

Sharing My Story To Help Others

For a girl like me to actually say, “okay, I’m going to write a book” seemed so farfetched. I thought about it years ago, but to actually put pen to paper was something I didn’t even know where to start. On top of that, I didn’t think I had experiences that others could learn from.

It took a while for me to really sit back and realize that everything I share on Monday Motivation, the triumphs, the lessons, and all the different experiences are great things that I can share with other people. That’s what’s wrapped up in Powerless to Empowered. It was really awesome to sit down and create this book because it felt like sometimes when I was writing each chapter to share experiences, I was reliving them all over again. Some of them were bittersweet, but most of them were actually times of victory.

Moving To New Jersey And Beyond

One of my favorite lessons that I share is of me moving to New Jersey at the peak of the recession. It was November 16th, 2008. I only had $360 to my name at the time.

I feel like that story was the foundation of my empowered journey for many reasons. I crashed on my cousin’s couch for a bit, he then kicks me out, I don’t have a job lined up yet, and the country is in a state of extreme economic uncertainty.

However, taking that chance and following my gut (which I know now was God speaking to me saying “okay, Finda. It’s time for you to relocate.”) and trusting that everything was going to be okay is a story that I feel like I’m going to share for the rest of my life.

A Short Stint In The Music Industry

At the time when I was working with my brother, I was his music manager (among the many other hats I was wearing). I remember receiving my purpose on earth when I had strong feelings of pursuing the creation of a fragrance that would embody an empowered lifestyle.

But even then, I had so much noise going around me. I thought my purpose was tied to entertainment. That it would be the gateway to allow me the connections and finances needed to achieve it.

I was so focused on helping my brother with his career, even taking on different people. But then everything went silent, I didn’t have any more artists.

I didn’t have anything else and I asked God exactly what am I supposed to do. What is my life’s purpose? Having decided to go through a spiritual fast, the whole journey of Empowered hit me like a ton of bricks.

That lesson was that no matter how much you’re guided to your purpose in life, letting the outside noise into your head can cause you to get in your own way and hold you back.

Accepting My Purpose

Sometimes even when I’m recording Monday motivations I’ll second guess myself and try to do something different, say more things or try to use words that sound more profound or intelligent. I was doing that for years. That’s what happened while working in the music industry.

All the while, God was waiting on me for me to take a step back so he can actually do the work. I didn’t get to see what it actually looked like until I lost all of my other musical clients.

I thought I was going to freak out, but I didn’t. I just said, “you know, I know God has a plan for me because there’s no way he just took me from Pennsylvania with $360 and let everything fall flat”.

I just learned how to trust my gut and kind of go with it. And when I trusted my gut, everything became clear to me. I’m on Earth to empower women.

At first I thought it was just the Empowered fragrance on its own. But the more I actually tapped into the fragrance AND its purpose, I couldn’t shake the part of me that had a passion for wellness just bursting through.

There was a spiritual side to it that took years to come along. I learned that it had to be a mind, body, and soul connection. And the funny thing was that the connections were already there.

If you’ve ever seen my fragrance’s notes, it was described as having notes in “Mind, Body and Soul” levels. These were written in place of the typical industry standard of “Top, Middle, and Base” notes.

I never even thought that that foundation was already there until I stepped back again to see exactly what I needed to do. Then I realized that this is what God wants me to do.

In Conclusion…

What I want you to take away after reading Powerless to Empowered is that everyone has an experience. Do not waste it! If you survived something and you learned from that experience, it is your duty to teach the next person what you’ve learned and give them the tools to help them along the way.

I feel like we’re all connected, even if you’re not a spiritual person. So as human beings, our job is to make sure we use our experiences to help our fellow human out.

If you’re familiar with any of my videos, I say that I want my empowered purpose to mean something to the next woman. I believe it’s our duty to make sure that the next person learns from our mistakes and also learns from what we’ve survived.

That’s why I wrote Powerless to Empowered. I did not know that everything that I endured from the moment I was diagnosed with being learning disabled up to discovering who I am, my life’s purpose or meeting meeting my husband and partner in life.

I feel like anyone who comes across this book can relate to it. If you’re alive and you’ve gone through some struggles, you definitely would be inspired or at the very least find a common thread that you can relate to.

It is now available on Amazon. Search for it by title or use the link below.

I encourage everyone who purchases the book to go back after reading it to share your experiences and write a review. I truly appreciate it.

In closing, it’s been an amazing year!

From marrying the love of my life to moving to a new home and all the fun things that are happening in my life. It’s been a beautiful year!

As always, guys…
