In junior high it was 'Teen Spirit' for me, then on to Elizabeth Arden's 'Red Door.' A few years later, it became 'Delicious' by DKNY followed by 'Coco Mademoiselle' by Chanel.
How many of you can relate? How often do you find yourself looking for a new scent as you mature?
There's a reason why we're drawn to specific scents based on where we are in life, both physically and mentally.
Your mindset and level of personal growth will be discussed in a future post. Here we'll focus on one aspect of the physical that affects your fragrance preferences...
Food.
That's right! Your preferences in food does play a major role. Russia wants rich and heavy, China craves light and airy and Brazilians go bananas for fruity.
If you’re living in the Middle East you’re most likely used to more robust spicy dishes, which may shift your interest toward equally heavier scents such as musk and other woody aromas.
Likewise, living here in the USA the palettes tend to lean on the sweeter side which would then show through a preference of sweet fragrances.
While finding a fragrance when visiting a different part of the world could prove challenging, it could very well help you discover something new, both fragrant and about yourself!
